Ex-Tommie to direct new golf team at St. Kate’s

Former Tommie women's golf standout Kristine Paulson Wessinger has been hired as head coach of St. Catherine's new golf program. The Wildcats will start play in 2011 and become the 11th conference school to field a program.

Paulson Wessinger has been in the Minneosta Gophers' women's program the last eight seasons. She was the U of M interim head coach in spring 2007 and the last three years has been its associate head coach.

She was a three-time All-MIAC honoree, two-time captain and competed in two NCAA championship meets with St. Thomas. She was the MIAC meet co-medalist in 1999, and as a senior in 2001 led St. Thomas to its first MIAC championship.

Paulson Wessinger comes from a golf family. Her dad, Tom, was a Tommie golfer and her brother Ryan competed for the Minnesota Gophers.
